In the years to come, we intend to investigate the hitherto unexplored areas of NWFP including the preparation of a dictionary of events in addition to publishing of books lets etc
Mission
The Centre Presently enrolling 50 students for MA in Pakistan Studies, Which are being increased to 60 in the next session. The Centre will also enroll 10 students to its M.Phil/ Ph.D programmes in addition, the Centre Gold’s seminars, Conferences, workshops, Symposiums etc.
Objectives
The Pakistan Study Centre was established under the Federal Act:XXVII of 1976 on the University Campus Peshawar. The main objectives of the Centre as defined in the same Act are as follows:
- To engage in the study of languages, literature, arts, architecture, customs, traditions, attitudes and aspirations of the people of various regions of Pakistan.
- To establish under-graduate, graduate, postgraduates degree and other programmes, in the relevant discipline in accordance with the standard and requirements of the University in which the Centre is established.
- To promote co-operation in inter-disciplinary relationship with other Centres, teaching / research organizations and institutions in public and private sectors.
- To arrange conferences, seminars and re-fresher courses for the development of teaching and research.
- To promote teaching and research in particular subjects as assigned to it by the Federal Government in consultation with the University in which the Centre is established.
Outcomes:
During 1981-82 ten students were admitted in MA class under policy directive of the Board of Governors. The Centre has been enrolling MA students since last 24 years and by now has produced 450. Twenty-five more students are likely to complete their work in 2006. It has also enrolled 7 students for M.Phil / Ph.D programmes.
Publications:
The Centre has published bi-annual Journal “ Pakistan “since 1981 by now 36 issues have been published. Two hundred and eighty-seven articles have been published in these issues.
