Introduction
The opening of the Central Theology Madrassa in the historic Islamia College Peshawar immediately after the second visit of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah preceded the establishment of the Department of Islamiyat. Besides the Theology Madrassa, a full fledged department of Islamiyat was established in 1956 with the renowned religious scholar Qazi Noorul Haq Nadvi as its first founding chairman.

Objectives
Founded to establish and promote Islamic education and present synthesis of primitive and modern Islamic Thoughts through proper classes & seminars-issuing verdict about religious quarries under Ifta committee.
Outcomes
Produced students on a wide scale since 1956-to date –on M.A level-and since 1972 to date on Ph.D and since 1982 to date on M .Phil level issued verdicts about religious queries.
