B.F.A Part 1
Drawing
The course introduces the students to the elements which go into making a drawing, painting, and a design and gain basic vocabulary of these subjects to enable them to express solutions visually. Study of negative spaces, tonal values, perspective and color, through class projects such as still life’s, nature study and part study from life models, are part of the course.
Painting
As in drawing with added stress on color and color values in Techniques of pastels, watercolor, oils and mixed media.
Advertising & Publicity Design
The course provides an understanding about the techniques, tools, and handling of liner, crow quill, set squares, t squares, compass, butter paper and deal with Advertising problems, and designing of monograms, book jackets, calligraphic charts and posters.
Textile Design
The course attempts at teaching the concept of textile design how a textile design is created with straight, curved, and mixed lines with emphasis on experimentation in different techniques.
History of Arts
The course covers the development of Art and Architecture of ancient civilizations.
Techniques & Graphics
The course is designed to introduce different techniques of drawing, painting, and graphics with use of tools and materials.
Exhibition of work
Students are encouraged to develop a portfolio which is displayed and evaluated at the end of the year.
English
The course is designed to enable the students to write acceptable University expository essays through developing writing skills.
B.F.A Part 2
Drawing
Formal elements and principles that make up a pictorial composition are studied in detail in different mediums of drawing with emphasis on still life, landscape, portraiture and study from a life model. Sculpture and computer graphics are also used as medium/tool.
Minor
A number of Minor subjects are available. The students have a choice to select one minor related to his/her Major. Courses offered are Painting, Commercial art, Textile design, Photography, Sculpture, Woodwork, Metal work, Calligraphy, Caricature, Ceramics, Interior Design, Stage design.
Major Subject (Students have a choice to select one as their Major)
i) Major Painting
The course is designed to help the students achieve proficiency in the discipline through acute observation with focus on colour and composition which includes studio and out- door projects.
ii) Major Advertisement & Publicity Design
The course is designed to deal with Advertising problems in different media with emphasis on layout, planning and composition. Designing campaigns are part of the course.
iii) Major Textile
Students develop skills to create specific designs for textile and are introduced to techniques of block printing, batik and tie and dye.
History of Islamic Architecture
The courses provide a brief outline of development of early and later Islamic Architecture with emphasis on surface decoration.
English (Same as for BFA Part-I)
B.F.A Part 3
Drawing
The course provides concentration on detailed study of the human figure in relationship to its environment both in the studio and outdoor besides study of landscape, still-life & perspective. Computers are used as a tool.
Major Painting
Students are guided towards development of their own vocabulary of form and search for a personal solution to a given problem. This includes exercises in spacial relationships, colour, form and perspective. Techniques of different schools are also studied.
Major Advertising
The course uncovers different methods of printing that is Offset Lithography, Block Printing, Screen Printing, and design complete campaigns which include the production of logos, posters, hoarding, press ads, stickers, brochures, stationery and package designs. photography and computer graphics are part of the course…….
Major Textile Design
Students are encouraged to make creative designs for textile and are introduced to printing techniques such as Screen Printing, Block Printing, Batik, Tie & Dye, and Weaving.
History of Western Art
The course surveys History of Western Art and its various styles and schools to enable the student to be able to critically appreciate any work of art.
